Swing Locks
The Swing-Lock® removable partial denture consists of a buccal retaining bar and a reciprocating lingual plate. The buccal retaining bar is hinged at one end and locked with a latch at the other. Combined this provides maximum retention and stability. Bertram Dental Lab has decades of experience doing such cases. Mesh or some form of acrylic retention is available on the buccal retaining bar in the event an acrylic veneer is needed or just to improve esthetics.
DE Hinge Frameworks
The DE Hinge or (Distal Extension Hinge) was brought to market in 1953. Since then, the current design of the hinge is much smaller. (3mm width and a vertical height of 1.5mm)
Bertram Dental Lab has had decades of experience producing DE hinged removable partial dentures. The DE hinge is intended for use on bilateral clasp retained free end removable partial dentures to reduce loading or torquing of abutments. For patients, it allows patient comfort and abutment protection by allowing independent unilateral function eliminating torquing leverage on the abutments on the nonfunctioning side. The miniaturized size allows utilization in short vertical spaces and provides for good esthetics.
